Have you notice? Cases of rape are very rampant this days. Victims lost their dignity. Some were traumatized. Some were killed brutally while others are saved. Yes, they were saved from death. But they still choose to end their lives through suicide instead of experiencing self-pity, depression, frustration and the complexity of being bullied. Coping up with the effects of being raped is not easy at all. That is why people usually believe that DEATH is the only way to escape pain. Wherein fact, it only made the situation worst. However, we cannot just criticize them. It is their life and it is not "US" who experienced that kind of difficulty. We only know what happened, but we never know how they truly feel.
There are many reasons why men execute rape, and one of it are the WOMEN. Yes. It's "us". Because for me, in the very beginning, women are meant to tempt men. Just like what happened with our Adan and Eve. But, still, it depends with men if they will let themselves tempted.
There was a story in Wattpad entitled "I love you since 1892" written by Undeniably Gorgeous. I was actually inspired with it because the story shows about some of the history in the Philippines especially the behavior of women before. Women weren't allowed to stay outside of the house in the evening. Both men and women were not allowed to be alone together if they are not in a relationship. Men were prohibited to touch women---in any body parts if they are not married as well. Women before usually wore long skirts which is below the knee, because it is strictly prohibited to expose their legs. Some of them used fan in order to hide their faces because for them, it is not right for boys to stare at them.
If we are going to compare women of today and women of the past, it is definitely different. As we have notice, women this days are very opposite from the women before. Mostly, women loves to go out every night. For them, it is a perfect time to bond with their friends. There's no malice if two opposite gender are hanging out together. Women prefer to wear a short shorts or short skirts and sleeveless blouses because they find it comfortable. Not all women love that outfit but usually, for others, it is a perfect outfit for traveling or going out to the city. They don't care if what others would think about them. Exposing women's skin are very trendy today. Some of them even liked to show off their cleavage. Take a photo with it and post it in social media. Letting those pervert social media users see it.
As the world continues to revolve, new-fashioned clothes seemed like it lacks for a fabric. Even if it is very trendy today, we, girls should always think. We may call it FASHION, but if we see how it expose our skin so much, we shouldn't wear it. Wearing those kind of clothes attract boys. And that is how temptations begin.
I have read a line in Facebook that says, "Do not tell us how to dress, tell boys not to rape". That line can be acceptable because it is right. But, we should always remember that not all boys are the same.
How we dress ourselves could be a reason of temptation towards boys. As what people say, "If you want to be respected, wear something worth to respect". Respect begins in ourselves. If we wouldn't know how to respect ourselves, then it would be hard to earn respect from others especially from the boys. If we will wear proper clothes, we may not prevent rape as 100%, but at least we have tried to be safe. It not just "us" who live in this world. We should always know our limitations. always know our limitations.
